Damoh's Jagdish Theatre: Once A Hub Of Entertainment, Now A Haunted Relic
Tanuj Parasar, resident of Damoh City said that the sounds coming from the empty theatre are scary.

Jagdish theatre is touted as the first cinema hall in Damoh City of Madhya Pradesh. The theatre today has locks on its gates and is accompanied by several haunted stories from the local people. As per the people of Damoh City, the cinema hall was built one or two years before the independence of India. After liberation from the British, people in Damoh flocked to Jagdish Theatres to watch movies until a horrifying tragedy took place in the 1990s. As per the resident Tanuj Parasar a murder incident took place in Jagdish Theatre in which someone was killed with an acid. The cinema hall was barred from showcasing movies for some time during the investigation by the police.

However, after some time, the cinema hall opened its gates for the audience and started functioning smoothly. It continued for two to three years before it ceased forever due to the paranormal activities in the theatre. After the incident that happened in this cinema hall, the local people developed a misconception in their minds that strange sounds are heard when they pass by Jagdish Theatre at night. People stopped going through this route. Even though these talkies have turned into ruins due to lack of maintenance, the infrastructure of the cinema hall is still visible from the outside.

“The sounds coming from inside are very scary. Some people have even heard it calling to them while they pass from that route. Some say that it pulls towards you.” said Tanuj Parasar while talking to Local18.

Jagdish Theatre is one among many haunted places in India. This haunted theatre house has stopped its operation but some cinema halls in India are still selling tickets despite being famous for their spooky stories. Victory Theatre in Pune is one of them. This theatre is a single-screen one that has its old-world charm of rickety seats and stall and balcony seating. As per the media reports, most of the unexplained activities in Victory Theatre take place during the night shows or at unearthly hours when the theatre is empty. You can hear seats rambling or banging when there is no one around. Shrieks of laughter and other voices can be heard when there is no one in the vicinity.
