The 32-year-old woman named Chen Xiaosi stuffed a bump under dress to look pregnant.

An influencer from Sichuan province in southwestern China pretended to be five months pregnant and then went looking for a husband at a matchmaking meet-up to increase her followers. She uploaded her video with a baby bump and requirements of her future husband on a short-form video social media platform, Douyin. As soon as the video of the same went viral, netizens started to doubt its authenticity and became suspicious. It led to a police investigation which revealed that it was merely a social media stunt bid to attract followers. The influencer’s stunt sparked widespread criticism on social media. The videos and photos have gone viral now. According to the South China Morning Post, the 32-year-old woman named Chen Xiaosi stuffed a bump under dress to look pregnant. Shen then joined a local matchmaking corner which is one of the popular platforms to find life partners in China. As per the Chinese media reports, the woman is seen holding a piece of paper on which she wrote that she is pregnant and is looking for a father for her child and a husband for herself.

Seeing the woman not well-dressed, people of the mainland believed her. After seeing the baby bump, they were sure that the woman was telling the truth. “32 years old, single, no property or car, five months pregnant,” wrote Chen Xiaosi. She also lists the details about the husband she was looking for. According to her, the husband should have a house along with a car. “He should have a flat and car, more than 20,000 yuan (Rs 2.36 lakh) monthly salary, and must treat me and my child well,” wrote Chen Xiaosi, as published in the South China Morning Post report.

Some men showed interest in the women and offered her their support. She was also seen talking to them. One man told her that he has a 40 year-old son who will be willing to marry her but his salary is between 7,000 and 8,000 yuan ( Rs 82,000-94,000). The influencer looked appalled and dismissed him with a wave of her hand. In the investigation, the influencer herself admitted that it was a publicity stunt. Her social media account appears to have closed, as per reports.
