Bengaluru, once hailed for its pleasant weather, boasting sunny skies and a gentle breeze that whispers through the streets, is now facing scrutiny like never before. Amidst the city’s worst water crisis in decades, temperatures are skyrocketing to unprecedented levels, leaving frustrated residents with yet another topic to grumble about. The ‘Garden City’ now finds itself sweltering at around 38°C, edging closer to the April record of 39.2°C set back in 2016.
This unfortunate turn of events spells dismay for the millions of migrants drawn to Bengaluru from other Indian metros by the promise of better weather. After all, the reality isn’t as rosy as anticipated, fueling the age-old Bengaluru versus Mumbai debate, with the internet gleefully taking sides. And let’s face it, Mumbai seems to be winning this time around, as Bengaluru’s heatwave ‘outshines’ Mumbai’s harsh, humid summer, providing ample fodder for online mockery directed at the city and its erstwhile weather enthusiasts who boasted of its superiority.

Notably, Bengaluru’s warm nights now surpass even the temperatures of Delhi and Gurugram.
As a result, social media platforms are flooded with memes and discussions:

Meanwhile, although Karnataka was among the first Indian states to experience heatwave conditions this summer, initially concentrated in its northern regions, other parts of the state are now feeling the brunt of the scorching weather. Bengaluru recorded daytime temperatures of 37.2°C last Tuesday, marking the second hottest day the Silicon City has experienced in nearly a decade.

But there might be a silver lining on the horizon for Bengalureans. According to the IMD (Indian Meteorological Department) forecast, rains are expected to grace the city on April 10 and 11. Now, whether these showers will bring relief from the rising temperatures remains uncertain, but they should offer a glimmer of hope amid the scorching sun and relentless heat.
