Anand Mahindra's Game Changing Idea For Water Conservation Is A Hit
Industrialist Anand Mahindra recently proposed a unique solution to lessen the water scarcity affecting Bengaluru that gained 1 million views.

Bengaluru is currently reeling under a severe water crisis, a challenge due to rapid urbanisation, over population and inadequate rainfall. As the city’s water storage is declining, residents are now depending on water tankers, who are now charging exorbitant rates. Amidst this calamity, Anand Mahindra, the chairman of the Mahindra Group, recently proposed a unique solution to lessen the water scarcity affecting the Silicon Valley of India. In the X (Formerly Twitter) post that has garnered significant attention; the industrialist shared a video showing a simple yet innovative method for saving water using air conditioners. The video, which has impressed social media users, highlights a method capable of collecting approximately 100 liters of water from AC units in a controlled manner.

In the video, a man explains, “This is a very important message for people in Bengaluru. AC water can easily be collected and this is a very unique way of collecting AC water in a very smart, beautiful and controlled manner where you can store 100 litres of AC water in a pipe. There’s an overflow and there’s a tap, you can use it in many ways, especially mopping, for your potted plants, for your car wash, for flushing and especially places like Bengaluru, where there is a water shortage.”

“We have to use every drop of water and with the heat, there will definitely be more use of AC, it is very much like a distilled water, which can be used aggressively,” the man concludes. Meanwhile, Anand Mahindra, sharing the video wrote, “This needs to become standard equipment throughout India wherever people use A/Cs. Water is Wealth. It needs to be stored safely. Spread the word.

Social media users are showing their appreciation for the technique, praising its simplicity and effectiveness during water shortage. A user highlighted that while water discharged from air conditioners may not be suitable for drinking, it can still be beneficial for watering plants and cleaning tasks.

Another shared the importance of water preservation, claiming that raising awareness about this issue is essential for creating a better future for all.

An individual admired the idea and noted that they had previously wondered about the water wasted by air conditioners and believed it should be repurposed in some ways. The person found it impressive that someone actually came up with the solution.

A user simply stated, “What an idea.”

Since Anand Mahindra shared the video, it has quickly gone viral and garnered over 1 million views.
