A young man from China is gaining attention online for the unusual disorder he suffers from- delusional love disorder.
Carrying the surname Liu, the 20-year-old man is a second-year university student from Jiangsu province in eastern China. He was diagnosed with a condition called delusional love disorder, which makes him believe that all his fellow female college mates have a crush on him.
As reported by South China Morning Post, his condition worsened, as he started to behave inappropriately with his female college mates. However, more reports state that he received treatment for his condition and is recovering. He started showing the symptoms of this unusual condition in February and since then it just deteriorated. All the time he was immersed in his perceived charm. He told a doctor, “All the girls in school like me.” The doctor revealed that he believes he is the most good-looking guy in the whole university.
Unsurprisingly, the woman he went to, refused his advances, but he thought they were just too shy to accept his affection. The doctor stated, “He has brought much trouble to many of his schoolmates.”
Moreover, aside from his usual excitement, Liu displayed several changes in his behaviour. It included not sleeping all night, being distracted in class and spending money carelessly. According to the doctor, the condition of delusional love disorder is mostly observed in the spring season. Mainly during April and March, the period when peach blossoms are in full bloom. Since it is a changing weather, it causes the endocrine levels to fluctuate in the body. People suffering from this condition may show hyperactivity and loss of sleep. More severe cases include hyperexcitement, being talkative and sex addiction.
