Costa Cruises, a popular European cruise company will be launching in India today with its coastal cruise Costa Marina. Sarbananda Sonowal, the Union Minister of Ports, Shipping and Waterways gave the company the go-ahead for its maiden voyage in India. The fact that this is the first International Cruise Liner in the country has gotten everybody rather excited and ecstatic.
However, it must be noted that not only will Costa Marina set sail in International waters but it will also have well-curated itineraries within India. It is being said that the cruise will mostly adhere to the routes around Mumbai – Goa – Lakshadweep – Cochin.
Mr. Sonowal took to his social media accounts to share a glimpse of the first International Cruise Liner in India. Watch Video-

Not a lot of information is out in the open about Costa Marina but it is possible that the cruise will have almost 45,000 passengers on board in the upcoming voyages for two whole months.
There is not an iota of doubt in the fact that the Indian government is working extremely hard to promote India as a nation that also offers varied cruising facilities. With the success of Ganga Vilas which was a luxury river cruise, it does seem like dreams are slowly turning into reality for the country.
During the Global Indian Maritime Summit, there was a lot of discussion about having around 50 million cruise travellers in India by the year 2047.
