Anupamaa To Introduce New Character Kajal Post Leap, Makers In Search Of The Right Face: Report

Star Plus’ most popular show, Anupamaa, has been making headlines as many prominent actors took an exit from the show. The storyline is also reportedly headed for a significant leap with major plot twists that are expected to keep the viewers hooked. Recently, Madalsa Sharma and Sudhanshu Pandey bid farewell to the show, and post leap, Rupali Ganguly and Gaurav Khanna are said to be retained on the show. A latest Pinkvilla report has shed light on the new lead character, who is expected to be introduced after the leap.

As per the report, the new character in Anupamaa post leap would be named Kajal. According to sources, the producers are looking for an appropriate actress who can play this independent, feisty, fun-loving and vulnerable character in the show after the leap. The publication quoted the source as saying, “Kajal will be free-spirited and spunky but will have a lot of emotions hidden. The makers are penning a tragic backstory for Kajal, who has lost her father because of her mother’s mistake and thus is quite cold towards her. She holds her mother responsible for her father’s death and this is living away from her. She wishes to fulfill her father’s lost dream. She is a person who finds a way to help the poor and can even con the rich people to help the poor.”

After announcing her exit from Anupamaa recently, Madalsa Sharma had also confirmed the news regarding the leap. During an interview with a media portal, the actress noted, “Right now the show is taking a leap of 15 years; this has been discussed for a long time. 15 years is not a small time, and I think that many people (actors) are going to say goodbye to the show right now.”

Anupamaa started airing on Starplus back in 2020, and is available digitally on Disney+ Hotstar. It is produced by Rajan Shahi and Deepa Shahi under the name Director’s Kut Productions. It starred Rupali Ganguly, Sudhanshu Pandey, Madalsa Sharma and Gaurav Khanna in lead parts, along with Kunwar Amar Singh, Gaurav Sharma, Alpana Buch, Nidhi Shah, Arvind Vaidya, Aurra Bhatnagar and others in key roles. The current storyline of the show revolves around Anupamaa’s former in-laws, the Shahs, who have sought refuge in Asha Bhavan, where Anupamaa, is looking after them.
