Oakter Mini UPS Pro Keeps The Internet Running Without Any Cut
Power cuts can be a problem if you are in an important meeting but that's where the Mini UPS Pro can come to your rescue.

The Internet is essential no matter where you go but during the work-from-home setup, you need the Wi-Fi running 24×7 so that you don’t miss out on important meetings. What happens when the power goes off, your Wi-Fi router reboots which starts the connection all over again and you have to wait for a few minutes for the internet to come back on. But what if we tell you that there is a UPS that can keep the router running even when the power goes off.

That’s right, Oakter is offering the solution for these issues with the Mini UPS Pro version that doesn’t cost as much as the old-gen UPSs that one needed to keep the PCs running. Instead, you have a mini box that has enough power to keep the Wi-Fi router running for more than a few hours. We used this pocket-friendly device (priced at Rs 1,899) over the past few weeks to see its value and purpose, and here’s what we found.

Design And Setup

The best thing about the Oakter Mini UPS Pro model is that the design doesn’t change much from the previous versions. You have a power bank-sized gadget that attaches behind the Wi-Fi router and sources its power from the main outlet.

You get a dual connector in the box that needs to be connected to the Wi-Fi point, while the power cord of the router goes on the Mini UPS Pro. Once you turn on the switch, the power flows to the Mini UPS Pro which transfers to the Wi-Fi router to run the internet. As the UPS Pro is connected to power, it charges the built-in battery and activates when the electricity at your place goes off.

The company claims it is a 30-second setup process and we can vouch for that. It is vital that the Mini UPS Pro is compatible with all the popular router providers in the country and their list of support assures us of that.

Does It Do The Job?

The Mini UPS Pro packs a 2600mAh battery that is claimed to offer 8 hours back up, not only for Wi-Fi routers, but cctv security cameras and set-top-boxes for your TVs as well. We tested the UPS Pro with our home Wi-Fi router and we were glad to be using the device as frequent power cuts in the area ensured that the Mini UPS Pro didn’t let the internet connection cut off.

Truth be told, we couldn’t verify the claims of 8 hours backup but we can say that the power back up for the router happened seamlessly and did not need the router to restart. If you have a busy work or personal schedule and don’t want the internet to cut off even for a few minutes, the Mini UPS Pro is the ideal gadget that we didn’t know we needed but we are glad to have them around.
