Microsoft is gradually giving IT admins the tools to recover the dead Windows PCs caused by the recent CrowdStrike update error. The company has released a new tool which promises to make the process of fixing the PCs easier for the IT heads in your company and make sure that most of the systems are up and running in quick time.
Microsoft confirmed on Saturday that over 8.5 billion devices were affected by the outage, so that is going to be one big task to get the systems running again in full flow. Microsoft’s new tool can run through a bootable USB drive which allows the IT admins to fix the dead computers quicker.
Microsoft Windows PC Recovery Tool – How It Works
The whole process starts by starting the Windows PC in the PE environment to boot the USB drive and let the tool do its job. The drive will then identify the drive and the file which caused the system to go kaput, and automatically delete it so that the PC can be restarted in the normal manner.
The company’s new tool allows you to handle the error file without putting the system in Safe Mode which has been a challenge for many as they are not able to get it working with their IT team remotely. Microsoft has shared more details about fixing Windows 10 and 11 systems in a support page which should allow most people to start using their PCs in a quick time.
CrowdStrike had previously asked its customers to start the PC in safe mode to locate the error file and delete it. Later, the company suggested that users will have to reboot their system as many as 15 times, which worked for some but was always going to be a task for others.
The good thing about Microsoft’s solution for this file doesn’t require Admin rights which makes it easier for people to be given the tool and try the process on their own, rather than rely on going over to the office and asking the IT admin to handle the issue manually.
