India’s DND App To Block Spam Calls To Start Working For All Users By March 2024: All Details
TRAI has offered its DND app to help people report if they get spam call or messages on their number but changes are expected in 2024.

Spam calls and messages have been a nuisance for Indian users for many years but it seems things might finally change sometime next year. The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai) is the chief architect behind the DND app that has been around for a long time but never managed to serve its purpose to the fullest.

But new reports claim that the year 2024 will see a major change in this direction which could end your annoyance with these spam calls. The telecom body has been quoted saying that it is fixing bugs in its do not disturb (DND) app that is supposed to help people report these pesky calls. Without explaining what these bugs are, the TRAI official was speaking at an event recently, where the person shared details about this app and where things are headed.

Trai Secretary V Raghunandan was quoted saying in a PTI report that the regulator is fixing bugs in the(DND) app highlighting the technical issues that have plagued its use for consumers. “We have roped in an agency, which is fixing bugs in the app. There were issues with some Android devices that have been addressed to a large extent,” he adds. He also confirmed that the new-look DND app will be compatible with all Android phones by March 2024.

The official also explained that the DND app has shown errors when a mobile user has tried to report a call or SMS as spam.

The other problem with the DND app is that iPhone users have not been able to make use of its functions and that is attributed to strict app store policies from Apple. Apps like DND don’t get access to iPhone call logs from Apple which restricts its effectiveness but the official mentioned that the agencies are working to ensure the DND app works on iOS devices as well.
