Beware! One More Malware Threat For Android Users, This Time It Could Be Your Chrome Browser
Google faces new malware threats that pose issues for Android users and the new one is able to steal all your information.

Android malware threats continue to come in all shapes and forms. The latest warning comes in the form of Chrome browser which is used by millions. Security experts have reportedly shared details about the new version of the Android XLoader malware that is now disguising as Chrome and seeking access to your SMS messages and ability to run in the background to wreak havoc on users.

The report from Bleeping Computer quotes McAfee, talking about the issues and the modus operandi of the new malware on the prowl.

Android XLoader Malware Threat: How It Attacks

The malware’s simple route into your device is the classic SMS message infected with a website URL that opens the gates for the malicious app to be installed via the APK file from the given link. Once the victim clicks the link, they see Chrome written, and think of installing it straight.

However, sideloading of apps from other sources on Android requires you to give access to these websites to be installed. The malware is not only doing that but also getting access to SMS messages on the phone and being able to run behind the apps. Hackers who manage to bypass the security checks are then able to steal personal information like passwords, photos, contact details and even the granular information about the device.

McAfee has already informed Google about the latest threat, so it is certain the company has removed the malware. Having said that, Google cannot control what users do outside of the Play Store. Even then, Google advises people to enable Play Protect on their device to safeguard against threats like these and make sure the malware is not able to steal data from these people.

What's your reaction?
