Apple opened two exclusive stores in India last year, with Delhi and Mumbai getting one each to start its retail expansion in the country. But reports now hint at Apple planning for more exclusive stores in the market, three more likely to open in the next few years.
Apple is in advanced talks to open new stores in Pune, Bengaluru and most likely the third one in Noida for the Delhi-NCR region, as quoted to sources in a latest Economic Times report. These stores will be positioned inside popular malls in these cities, the report adds.
Apple India Stores – Start Of Something Big
Apple Stores in India have predominantly operated through resellers for many years but that changed in 2023 when Tim Cook and Co. opened the doors to their first Apple Saket and Apple BKC stores in Delhi and Mumbai, respectively.
The report also mentions that Apple is not happy with just two stores in the country, and it is eager to expand its retail base, which allows them to bring new customers to the Apple ecosystem. It is pointed out that Apple WWDC 2024 could be the ideal platform where Apple shares its broader roadmap for stores, including markets like India.
Having stores in cities like Pune and Bengaluru will allow the company to tap into the youth of the country who have aspired to buy iPhones and will now get the original Apple seller experience in their hometown.
Big Store, More Money
The company is seeing its Apple Store sales averaging higher than estimated but the average selling price is similar to its country range for sales. Apple seems to have benefited from having a larger Mumbai BKC store, helping it make more money than the Apple Saket store in Delhi.
The report also suggests Apple Vision Pro could make its debut in the country soon and for that it wants to set up the original retail store experience that a premium $3,499 headset warrants, not only from the consumers but the brand itself.
