Leo Director Lokesh Kanagaraj Opens Up On Thalapathy Vijay's Entry Into Politics: 'Wish To See Him Act In Cinema'
Lokesh Kanagaraj has opened up and shared his thoughts on Vijay's entry into politics. The director mentioned how he wishes to see him continue acting in movies.

Lokesh Kanagaraj and Thalapathy Vijay joined hands in 2021 when they worked on the Tamil film, Master. This was followed by Leo which went on to become one of Vijay’s blockbuster movies. In a recent interview, Kanagaraj has shared his thoughts on the actor’s foray into politics. He mentioned how he wishes to continue seeing Vijay in movies.

In a conversation with Sun News, Lokesh Kanagaraj opened up about Thalapathy Vijay’s decision to bid adieu to movies to focus on politics. He mentioned how he wished to see the actor continue working his charm on the big screen. He said, “It’s my wish to see Vijay Anna act in cinema. But I am not big enough a person to say anything. It’s my wish, but his goal is towards politics. So I wish him well and want to send my good wishes.”

Earlier this year in February, Vijay announced his political party – Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam. The actor released a statement and mentioned that he would work on just two more movies before diverting his entire attention to politics. In his statement, he wrote, “While on one side, we see a brand of politics tainted with corruption and administrative malpractices, on the other side we have a divisive political culture that divides people on caste and religious line.” He continued, “The truth is everyone in Tamil Nadu is yearning for a fundamental political change and that should be in line with the Indian Constitution and the egalitarian principle of pirapokkum ella uyirkum (all are born equal).”

He announced his party on February 2, a few days after the general body meeting. His party members will contest in 2026.

His latest movie, The Greatest Of All Time (GOAT) was recently released in cinemas. He is currently working on Thalapathy 69 which is expected to be his last film before he immerses himself in politics in Tamil Nadu.
