There are 543 Lok Sabha seats in India. The AAP has fielded its candidates from almost every state and region of the country.

New Delhi: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has overtaken the ruling Congress and its principal challenger, the BJP, at least in the total number of candidates it has fielded across India. The AAP has fielded its candidates in 434 Lok Sabha seats. The Congress has fielded 414 candidates and the BJP has fielded 394 candidates.

The AAP, which is yet to get the Election Commission's recognition as a national party is also tom-tomming its achievement.

The Congress has given remaining seats to its eight alliance partners. The BJP has given remaining seats to its 30 alliance partners.

The AAP has released an advertisement ridiculing that both the Congress and BJP have forged an alliance with other political parties and the AAP has forged an alliance with the voters of India.

The ninth and final phase is voting on May 12. The last date to file nomination papers is April 24.
