UP polls: JD-U and LJP announce candidate list
Both parties have decided to contest on 403 seats in UP saying that it will give a moral boost to their candidates.

New Delhi: Janata Dal United(JD-U) and Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) on Friday announced their candidates for Assembly polls in Uttar Pradesh. Both parties have decided to contest all 403 seats in the state arguing that this will give a moral boost to their party cadres.

Ram Vilas Pawan's LJP named 53 candidates on Friday in its third list taking the number of candidates announced so far to 341.JD-U released names of 148 candidates.

It has so far announced 180. Lalu Prasad's RJD is separately contesting elections in the state. The three parties have also decided to put up their candidates in other four states going to polls.

Of this LJP announced candidates for 66 assembly seats in Punjab, 22 in Uttarakhand and 17 in Manipur JD-U has named 20 candidates in Uttarakhand, 35 in Manipur and one in Punjab so far.

The JD-U chief said his party would strive to make development the axis of poll campaign in Uttar Pradesh and will present before people the example of Nitish Kumar ruled Bihar as well as the party's clean political history.

Paswan said he was in favour of implementing the Rangnath Mishra Commission report and the minorities should be given reservation accordingly. LJP has also constituted a 16-member campaign committee for the state.
