After being suspended by the Uttar Pradesh government on charges of violation of service rules, senior IAS officer Surya Pratap Singh has written to Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav seeking voluntary retirement.
The IAS officer has been at loggerheads with the Uttar Pradesh government.

Singh had also openly backed IPS officer Amitabh Thakur, who is embroiled in an allegation battle with Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav.
