New Delhi: India Against Corruption (IAC) leader Arvind Kejriwal on Monday questioned the source of funding of the Congress's mega rally on Sunday and asked it to reveal the details. "Congress should give details on how much was spent on Sunday's rally and the source of funding. I have been told that special trains were run and buses were hired. How much was spent on these arrangements?," Kejriwal asked.
The Congress's mega rally was organised at the Ramlila Maidan in a bid to project a strong image as the party tries to boost its sagging popularity levels amidst a string of corruption charges. Congress General Secretary began the Congress attack. He listed the government's achievements, focusing more on the revolutionary Right To Information (RTI) Act and the NREGA scheme.
He attacked the "political system" of India, saying that it was the country's biggest problem and that the Congress alone could change it. His mother and party president Sonia Gandhi, on the other hand, led the attack on the Opposition. Calling them double-faced and hypocritical, she said that the detractors of the Congress were actually the ones who were neck-deep in corruption. She assured the people that the corrupt within the party will not be spared.
The Congress has been battling several corruption allegations over the past few months, many of them levelled by the IAC. They include the coal blocks allocations controversy, the Robert Vadra-DLF land dealings in Haryana, the graft charges against External Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid and of late, charges of corruption against Sonia and Rahul.
