New Delhi: Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi on Friday attended his first ever Congress Core Committee meeting, while party President Sonia Gandhi chose to skip the meet.
The move has been seen as another clear indication that he is being eased into the top role in the party.
Rahul on Thursday inducted into the Congress Central Election Committee, bringing him into the process of selecting party candidates for Assembly and Lok Sabha elections.
Though Sonia chose not to attend the core group meet on Friday, but the Congress President, a week after returning from the US following surgery, attended the Central Election Committee (CEC) meeting on Thursday and finalised tickets for some seats for the next year's Assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh.
Sonia held the meeting just a day after the debate of Narendra Modi versus Rahul Gandhi as prime ministerial candidates in 2014 was thrown up on Wednesday.
