Narendra Modi also said that they will gain the support of the people if they do their work with commitment.

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday met BJP workers at the headquarters in New Delhi and thanked them for their efforts in victory of the party in the Lok Sabha elections.

At the meeting, the Prime Minister said, "The four letter word 'Karyakarta' (worker) is more powerful than the five letter word 'Pradhanmantri' (prime minister). It is the karyakarta who enhances the importance of the word pradhanmantri. (A worker is more important than the Prime Minister. The workers enhance the importance of the Prime Minister)."

Addressing a gathering of 300-350 workers at the party headquarters, Modi said that the workers were supreme and he had become the Prime Minister because of their hard work.

He also said that they will gain the support of the people if they do their work with commitment. "If we pass the test of commitment to public welfare, people will hail us," he said.

Modi was accompanied by Home Minister Rajnath Singh at the meeting. He said that Modi worked a lot and as a result, all BJP workers supported him, irrespective of their caste or creed.

The party workers were also told they will receive a bonus for the hard work they put in during the polls, the senior BJP leader said.

Modi is also set to meet with council of ministers on Monday evening.
