New Delhi: Appearing unfazed by LK Advani's latest yatra, Congress on Monday took a dig at the BJP veteran saying as long as he continued to be the Prime Ministerial candidate, it has no cause for concern and his 'objective' to 'fast-forward' 2014 polls to 2012 will not materialise.
"Till the time Advani continues to be the Prime Ministerial candidate, there is no cause of concern," party general secretary Digvijaya Singh told reporters.
Suggesting that there was 'nothing significant' about Advani's yatra, he said that such yatras are also being taken out by Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi and Baba Ramdev and the 'management of all these yatras is with the RSS'.
"Such yatras are helpful to the RSS as the Sangh and the BJP leaders are expert in collecting contributions for such ventures for their own benefit," he alleged.
Singh's comments came close on the heels of Advani keeping alive the suspense over being in race for BJP's PM candidate in the next elections by saying that a decision will be taken by the party when the time comes.
Advani's decision to undertake this yatra has reportedly antagonised some of his senior party colleagues who were eyeing the nomination for the top post. Most prominent among them is Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi.
Advani plans to focus on issues of blackmoney, Lokpal, judicial accountability and electoral reforms during the yatra.
At the AICC briefing, party spokesman Manish Tewari accused the BJP of taking out such yatras with the hidden agenda of having a mid-term poll. "The objective of the yatra is how 2014 can be fast forwarded to 2012, something which is not going to happen".
