Patna: In a no-holds barred attack and giving a point by point rebuttal, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar launched a scathing attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday. From DNA remark, package for Bihar, crime rate in Bihar to rolling back of land ordinance, Lok Sabha promises, Nitish tore into Modi's claim.
While addressing the Swabhiman rally in Patna's Gandhi Maidan, Nitish said, "Modi raised question mark over Bihar's DNA and insulted the state. Nothing is wrong with Bihar's DNA, the state has glorious history. My DNA emanates from Bihar's soil. My DNA is the same as that of the people of Bihar."
In a show of strength, the stage was shared by Janata Dal United leader Nitish, Congress President Sonia Gandhi, Rashtriya Janata Dal leader Lalu Prasad, Samajwadi Party leader Shivpal Yadav and senior leaders of all the four parties.
Taking on Modi for rolling back land ordinance, Nitish said, "Modi government's decision to not repromulgate land ordinance is people's victory. Today Modi did not say his 'Mann ki Baat' in radio programme but public's 'Dil ki Baat'. "
While addressing nation in his radio programme 'Mann Ki Baat', Modi had made it clear that his government will not promulgate land ordinance but include 13 points to reform the land acquisition law to benefit farmers. "We are ready to amend land acquisition act to benefit farmers, who were subjected to misinformation leading to a lot of apprehension in their minds on the law. I have decided that the Land ordinance be allowed to lapse," Modi said.
Attacking Modi on false promises and repackaging old schemes, Nitish said, "Modi has not given a new package of Rs 1.25 lakh crore. It's just a repackaging of old schemes. Nitish Kumar takes a dig a PM Modi on black money, says where's the black money after 15 months in power."
Upping the ante against the Modi government, Sonia attacked the BJP-led regime for not fulfilling its promise to provide employment to 1 crore people but also restricting job opportunities in the government and said the funds for major social security schemes like MGNREGA have been "heavily slashed".
Targeting Modi for his DNA remarks, Gandhi said the Prime Minister has demeaned Bihar and shown its people in a bad light. "Some people take pleasure in mocking Bihar. Whenever they get opportunity they comment about its DNA and culture. They also call it BIMARU," she said.
On government's decision to allow Land Bill to lapse, Sonia said that Modi had to bow to people's will by giving up the ordinance.
The rally is happening just two days before Modi’s fourth rally in the state. Modi will address last Parivartan rally at Bhagalpur, scheduled for September 1.
