Kurnool: "I have no fear as I did no mistake. I informed the same to former chief minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy," Opposition leader N Chandrababu Naidu told a huge gathering at Pattikonda in Kurnool district on Friday.
This was his sharp reaction to YSR Congress president YS Jaganmohan Reddy's plea to CBI to probe Naidu’s role in the Obulapuram illegal mining lease.
Hours after Jagan's appeal to the CBI, Naidu wanted to address a press conference to set the records straight.
But he changed his mind and decided to explain the 'facts' directly to the public at a meeting organised by the Telugu Desam as part of his padayatra.
"They (Jagan and YSR) started Sakshi paper and cement factories with illgotten money. I have just three bedrooms in my house. One is for me and another is for my son. The third one is meant for guests," Naidu said, while asserting that his nine-year rule was transparent.
"But in just five years, the YSR family had owned huge palaces in Hyderabad, Bangalore, Kadapa, Pulivendula and Idupulapaya," Naidu said.
He recalled that the TDP highlighted illegal mining of Gali Janardhan Reddy and published Raja of Corruption explaining YSR's role in illegal mining.
"YSR filed 15 cases in Supreme Court and High Court. He set up 26 commissions of inquiry. But they failed to prove any charge against me. I did no mistake and I will not be cowed down by such inquiries. I informed the same to YSR," Naidu said.
He also said the projects initiated by the TDP regime were reviewed by the YSR government and collected huge money.
Earlier, Naidu interacted with farmers of Alur and Pattikonda Assembly segments during his padayatra.
Moved by the plight of farmers, he demanded implementation of MS Swaminathan Commission report for better safeguard of their interests.
