Murli Manohar Joshi's Namami Gange comment his own view: Kalraj Mishra
Congratulating Union Transport and Highways and Shipping Minister Nitin Gadkari's scheme of turning river Ganga into a waterway, Mishra said that is a necessary project owing to increased transport problem in the country.

Kanpur: Union Minister Kalraj Mishra on Saturday downplayed the comment of senior BJP leader Murli Manohar Joshi on the Centre's 'Namami Gange' programme, stating that the scheme was indeed "the best to clean the river".

Reacting to Joshi's comments that Ganga can't be cleaned even in next 50 years the way the 'Namami Gange' project was being carried out, the Union Minister said, "Questions can't be raised over the capability of senior leader like Joshi. The comments on 'Namami Gange' is his personal but the scheme is being praised by all. Any new project takes time to show results."

The Union Minister for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) also rejected charges of sidelining the senior party leader. "Union Water Resources minister Uma Bharti is doing a great job and she will meet Joshi and discuss this issue," he said.

Congratulating Union Transport and Highways and Shipping Minister Nitin Gadkari's scheme of turning river Ganga into a waterway, Mishra said that is a necessary project owing to increased transport problem in the country.

Dodging questions on Ram Temple issue raised by BJP's Rajya Sabha MP Vinay Katiyar, the Union Minister said, "Development in multiple areas is the primary focus of our government right now." The minister also attacked Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi over his "suit boot ki sarkar". "There are many ministers in our government including Home Minister Rajnath Singh who wear dhoti and kurta all the time. Then how can we be a suit boot ki sarkar?", he added.
