New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is likely to file more FIRs in the National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) scam, according to sources. Sources also say that the CBI has been probing Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav's tenure in the state.
The Mulayam Singh government was in Uttar Pradesh from 2005 to 2007 and the CBI is investigating the allocation of Rs 10,000 crore from 2005 to 2011.
Sources say the eight FIRs filled on various issues will also look into the time period from 2005 to 2007.
Earlier on Monday, one of the key official involved in the NRHM scam in Uttar Pradesh committed suicide at his residence in Lucknow.
Project Manager Sunil Verma shot himself at his Vikas Nagar residence at around 8:30 am. The 52-year-old official was taken to a hospital where the doctors declared him dead. Verma was a project manager associated with the construction and design division of Uttar Pradesh government.
The CBI has sought a report from the Lucknow Police on the alleged suicide of Verma.
