New Delhi: The much-awaited Union Cabinet reshuffle will take place on Tuesday. It is believed that more representation would be given to poll-bound Uttar Pradesh.

Principal spokesperson of the government Frank Noronha tweeted that "cabinet expansion" will take place on Tuesday at 11 AM.

Some Cabinet ministers are likely to face the axe while some ministers of state might be elevated.

Senior Ministers Arun Jaitley, Rajnath Singh, Manohar Parrikar and Sushma Swaraj will retain their Cabinet posts.

Union Ministers Vijay Sampla and Nihal Chand Meghwal from Rajasthan are likely to be axed.

Leaders likely to be inducted into Modi Cabinet are Purushottam Rupala, SS Ahluwalia, Ramdas Athawale, Anupriya Patel, Ajay Tamta, Krishna Raj, Mahendra Nath Pandey, Arjun Ram Meghwal and PP Chaudhary.

A high-level Bharatiya Janata Party meeting will take place on Monday at the party's headquarter. Party president Amit Shah will attend the meet.

On June 30, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had reviewed the performance of various ministries in spending budgetary allocations and implementing schemes in the past two years and asked his colleagues to ensure schemes be tailored to benefit masses.

At an over five-hour-long meeting of the Council of Ministers, the Prime Minister had reviewed the performance of all Union ministries to ascertain whether budgetary allocations have been spent wisely. He also sought to know the number of schemes implemented by each ministry.

Modi, according to those present in the meeting, had asked the ministers to ensure that schemes are tailored in such a fashion that the benefit reaches the common man.

Top bureaucrats made a power point presentation running into over 100 slides.

Modi was of the view that schemes mentioned in the election manifesto are implemented in true spirit to that the Opposition does not get a chance to accuse the government of falling short on promises.

The Cabinet will get a new Minister of State for Sports (independent charge), a post which fell vacant after Sarbananda Sonowal became the Chief Minister of Assam.
