New Delhi: After being chargesheeted by the CBI in the Adarsh housing scam, former Maharashtra chief minister Ashok Chavan on Wednesday said that attempts are being made by his political rivals to implicate him in the case.
“It’s unfortunate. It’s a political conspiracy hatched by my political opponents to keep me out of public life. The issue has been blown out of proportion. I was neither connected to the allotment of land or to the membership of the society,” he said.
"I have full faith in juciary and its process. I will come out clean. I have done no wrong. The matter is sub-judice. I will prove my innocence in the court. I will consult my legal team," he added.
Earlier, the CBI named Chavan among 14 people chargesheeted on Wednesday in the multi-crore Adarsh Housing scam, which also includes several retired Army officers and top Maharashtra bureaucrats.
