Himachal Congress Crisis: Six-member Coordination Committee Formed to 'Sort Out' Differences
We are forming a coordination committee between the party and the government with five to six members....They will all work together to save the party and save the government, DKS said

Amid the crisis in Himachal Pradesh Congress following cross-voting by six party MLAs in favour of BJP in state RS polls, party-appointed observer DK Shivakumar on Thursday assured that they have “sorted out their differences” and a six-member coordination committee has been formed to straighten out matters further.

“We are forming a coordination committee between the party and the government with five to six members….They will all work together to save the party and save the government,” DKS said while talking to the media.

“Our CM accepted that some failure has happened. But it will not continue further. We have spoken to all the MLAs personally. We have spoken to the PCC president, CM. One round of discussion will happen later. So all of them have sorted out all their differences. They’ll work together,” DKS stated.

Meanwhile, Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu slammed the BJP for doing “petty politics” with “no majority”.

“After Rajya Sabha elections, everybody started thinking that Himachal Pradesh government is breaking…I also came across news that the state CM has resigned, which I highly condemned, this all was done to ensure that during final voting our numbers get down. I wish to ask which majority BJP is talking about. They are the ones who created a ruckus in the House…I wish to say this to the BJP the kind of petty politics they are doing with no majority. Their only purpose is to take down our government, people will give them befitting reply..” he said.

Party-appointed observer, DK Shivakumar’s statement over absolving differences comes a few hours after the six Congress MLAs, who cross-voted in favour of BJP in Himachal Pradesh Rajya Sabha polls, were disqualified from the state assembly.

“Six MLAs, who contested on Congress symbol, attracted provisions of anti-defection law against themselves…I declare that the six people cease to be members of the Himachal Pradesh Assembly with immediate effect,” said Assembly Speaker Kuldeep Singh Pathania.

The disqualified MLAs are– Sudhir Sharma (Dharamsala) and Rajinder Rana (Sujanpur), both ministerial aspirants; Inder Dutt Lakhanpal (Badsar); Ravi Thakur (Lahaul-Spiti); Chaitanya Sharma (Gagret); and Devender Bhutto (Kutlehar).

Crisis in Himachal Congress

A high-voltage drama ensued in Himachal Pradesh Congress following senior party leader Abhishek Manu Singhvi’s defeat in the Rajya Sabha elections due to cross-voting by nine lawmakers, including six from Congress and three Independents– who previously supported the Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu-led government.
