New Delhi: The government has decided to back Union Home Minister P Chidambaram in connection with the 2G spectrum case.
According to sources, the government has said that there is no question of asking for the resignation of the Home Minister.
Meanwhile, reacting to the order of the court, Union Law Minister Salman Khurshid said that there was no case against Chidambaram.
"There is no case against Chidambaram. Court has not yet given any indication as to it agrees to a case against Chidambaram or not," he said.
He further slammed the Opposition for demanding the Home Minister’s resignation saying that their behaviour was "not acceptable".
This came after a special Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court on Thursday admitted Janata Party president Subramanian Swamy's plea to argue his case against Chidambaram in the 2G scam case.
The court said he would have to take the witness box himself on December 17 to explain why he wanted key witnesses examined.
The court accepted the petition by Swamy to examine Sports Secretary Sindhushree Khullar, who was then joint secretary finance, and Joint Director of the CBI, HC Awasthi.
