Delhi Police arrests AAP MLA's secretary on extortion charges

New Delhi: AAP MLA Manoj Kumar might be in trouble as the Delhi police arrested his personal assistant Deepak Sharma on Wednesday on charges of extortion.

The police said that it received 17 complaints from businessmen and fair price shop owners claiming Sharma took extortion money from them.

"Since June 2014, people were paying him Rs 2,000 on a monthly basis. He also demanded money from three others. We are still probing the case," Surinder Kumar, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police, East Delhi, said.

Sources say that the police will send a notice to Kumar asking him to join the probe. Kumar himself was arrested few months ago on charges of forgery.
