New Delhi: Senior Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad refused to apologise over his remark comparing the deaths of people due to demonetisation with the death of soldiers killed in Uri attack.
Responding to the demand of an apology by Parliamentary Affairs Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, Azad said, "I will not apologise. BJP should apologies for the mess they have created over demonetisation."
On Friday, Naqvi in the Rajya Sabha termed Azad's Uri attack analogy as unfortunate and demanded an apology.
Meanwhile, another Congress leader Pramod Tiwari stood in support of Ghulam Nabi Azad and said that the Cong party would never compromise with terrorism.
Targeting the BJP, he said, "It is BJP which has an old alliance with terrorists which is why it is trying to divert the issue by targeting Azad."
Earlier in the day, Congress leader Anand Sharma had said that Azad has said nothing wrong.
He also attacked the BJP government and likened it with Mohammad Tughlaq.
