Bangalore: Congress launched its election campaign in Karnataka on Friday attacking the state government for the "worsening communal situation" in the state.
The party said it would ask the Election Commission to take note of the rising incidents of communal violence in Karnataka.
"Whole world watched as women were attacked, churches burned, minorities attacked. We call upon EC to take strict notice on Karnataka. The Chief Minister has total lack of concern of security," All India Congress Committee(AICC) spokesperson Jayanti Natarajan said in Bangalore.
She accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government of spoiling the global image of the state.
Natarajan alleged that Karnataka was the worst among the BJP-ruled states, with Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa, failing to govern efficiently to fulfill the aspirations of the people and for the growth of the state.
BJP government was undoing good work done by the previous Congress government for the overall development of the state, she added.
Listing achievements made by the United Progressive Alliance(UPA) Government at the Centre in the last five years, the Congress leader alleged that BJP was only indulging in dividing the voters to gain political mileage in the state.
