Vice-President Jagdeep Dhankhar on Thursday expressed his displeasure over Rahul Gandhi’s recent remarks on the Sikh community in India and termed his comments as “condemnable and intolerable”.
Taking to X, the Vice-President said, “I am pained and disturbed that some people in positions have no idea of Bharat, of our Constitution, of national interest. If we are true Bhartiyas, then we will never side with the enemies of the nation. We will always stand spinally for our nation!”

“I am pained and disturbed that some people in position have just no idea of Bharat. They have no idea of our Constitution, they have no idea of our national interest,” he added.
Dhankhar’s remarks came after Rahul Gandhi’s statement on the Sikh community sparked a political slugfest in India, with BJP leaders saying that the Leader of the Opposition defamed India on foreign land.
Rahul’s Remark On Sikhs
While addressing a gathering of Indian Americans in Washington DC on Monday, Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi stirred a massive controversy with his remark on the state of religious freedom in India, citing the example of Sikhs.
Gandhi asked the name of one of the Sikh attendees in the front rows during the programme. “What is your name, brother with the turban,” he asked.
“The fight is about whether a Sikh is going to be allowed to wear his turban in India or a kada in India. Or he, as a Sikh, is going to be able to go to a gurdwara. That’s what the fight is about. And not just for him, for all religions,” said Rahul Gandhi.
