New Delhi: Former Union Home Minister P Chidambaram on Monday targeted former Home secretary GK Pillai asking why the draft affidavit in Ishrat Jahan case is missing.
"Why is the draft affidavit in the Ishrat Jahan case vetted by A-G missing? It will show who drafted it, who vetted it & who approved it," he tweeted.
Chidambaram took on Pillai saying the officer who alleged that there was political interference in the case, is on record in 2013 stating that the second affidavit is perfectly justified.
"Tell me which part of the affidavit is wrong, which sentence of the affidavit is wrong. Nobody is alleging against me. The officer who said that he did not know anything about the affidavit, is on record in Guwahati in July 13, 2013 saying that the second affidavit was perfectly justified. I don't think any of the files that came to me went back without making a change. That is a habit to make small changes here and there. There was the affidavit which was forwarded to Attorney General by Gk Pillai," Chidambaram said.
The former finance minister's statements come amid a Home Ministry's order to probe how files concerning the affidavits filed in the case have gone missing.
