Jaipur: Sitting BJP MP Mahavir Bhagora, who had waved wades of currency notes in the Lok Sabha during the confidence motion debate in July 2008, has been shifted from Salumbar (Scheduled Tribe) to Udaipur (Scheduled Tribe).
Bhagora has been shifted to Udaipur (Scheduled Tribe) in the wake of delimitation of constituencies while sitting MP and former Union minister Subhash Mehariya has again been fielded from Sikar.
The second list of the party nominees, released in New Delhi on Friday evening, also have names of deputy leader of the BJP Legislature party former minister Ghanshyam Tiwari, All India BJP Mahila Morcha Chief and MLA Kiran Maheshwari, besides two new faces Khemchand Koli and Hakru Maidia.
While Tiwari has been fielded from Jaipur, Maheshwari has been shifted from Udaipur to Ajmer to contest the seat against young Congress MP Sachin Pilot.
Maheshwari was elected to the Lok Sabha from Udaipur in 2004 General Election. However, after election to Assembly in December 4 polls from Rajsamand, Maheshwari had quit the Lok Sabha seat.
Udaipur, where she also held post of Municipal Council Chairperson, has now been placed in ST reserved category forcing to move to Ajmer to pave way for Bhagora whose Salumbar (ST) constituency has been merged with adjoining constituencies in new delimitation.
Deputy leader of BJP legislature party Tiwari, a five-time MLA, has been fielded from Jaipur following death of senior party MP Girdhari Lal Bhargava last month.
Bhargava held Jaipur seat in six outings since 1989 and was declared candidate for the seat again for his seventh term but he died following a on heart attack last month forcing the party to find new candidate for its traditional stronghold in the state capital.
Sitting MP Maheriya will make bid for his fourth term to the Lok Sabha from the Shekhawati bastion.
Khemchand Koli, a BJP block-level activist has also been given the ticket from Bharatpur (SC) for the first time while another new face Hakru Maidia has been fielded from Banswara-Dungarpur (ST).
With this, the saffron party has declared its nominees of 21 of the 25 Lok Sabha seat from the state.
The party presently holds 20 of the 25 seats in the Lok Sabha while four are held by the ruling Congress. One seat has fallen vacant following resignation from Maheshwari in December last.
