Bury Cong's vote bank politics: Modi tells Assam
Modi said the PM was more concerned with the N-deal than national security.

Guwahati: Senior BJP leader and Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday asked people in Assam to "bury vote bank politics being pursued by the Congress".

"This is a very important election and you have to decide whether the country should run on vote bank politics or march on the path of development promised by the BJP-led NDA," Modi told election rallies during a whirlwind tour of Assam.

Criticising Prime Minister Manmohan Singh he said "Dr Singh has a residential address in Guwahati and represents the state in Parliament, but he did not bother to inquire about victims of the serial blasts in Assam even though he visited the state a day later."

Alleging that the Congress was giving a red carpet welcome to Bangladeshis, he said, "It is surprising that minister Ram Vilas Paswan has gone on record saying infiltrators should get citizenship right."

He claimed that Assam was under threat of the HUJI in Bangladesh, which showed that the Congress Government in the state had failed to tackle the threat posed from the neighbouring country.

Gujarat, on the other hand, despite having a long border with Pakistan was safe, he declared.

Referring to the reported threat by a union minister of having him arrested, Modi retorted "fear is not in my dictionary. I ask the Congress to open the doors of all jails and Modi is prepared to go."

"Manmohan Singh was more worried about the nuclear deal and his relations with the US. I want to ask Manmohan Singh, where was he when Mumbai was attacked and Bihar was ravaged by floods. Here everyday people die in bomb blasts but he doesn't feel any remorse," Narendra Modi said.

Modi also claimed that the UPA Government had failed to check the price rise and AICC President Sonia Gandhi was silent on the issue.

Accusing the Centre and the state for failing to effectively tackle the problem of terrorism, he said as a result, terror attacks and serial blasts were on the rise.

"After Pakistan's terror attack on Mumbai, the home minister goes to Washington for help. This is a matter of shame," he said.

The BJP leader promised to bring back the money stuffed in foreign banks by corrupt politicians and use it for development.
