Panaji: The BJP has won both the seats in Goa - North Goa and South Goa. The Congress has failed to retain South Goa seat, which was represented by Francisco Sardinha. However, Sardinha was denied ticket this time and instead Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco was fielded from South Goa. Lourenco lost to Narendra Keshav Sawaikar by less than 31000 votes.
Former Goa chief minister and a former MP Churchill Alemao, who contested on Trinamool Congress ticket in South Goa, got less than 12000 votes.
In North Goa seat, former chief minister Ravi Naik, fielded by the Congress to cut into the numerically powerful Bhandari caste vote bank, lost to BJP's Shripad Yesso Naik by a huge margin of over 1 lakh votes.
Dayanand Narvekar, who resigned from the Congress shortly before the poll date was announced, and was contesting as an Independent just secured 4128 votes. Suhas Naik of the Communist Party of India (M) also faired badly.
