Jind (Haryana): BJP MP Ramesh Kumar Kaushik was on Sunday made to take off his shoes while paying homage to Babasaheb Bhim Rao Ambedkar on his death anniversary during a programme in Jind.
Kaushik was the chief guest in the programme. When he came near the statue to pay homage, the organisers of the event asked him to remove his shoes, Dalit Mahapanchayat pradhan Mor Singh Palwan said.
Mor, who also attended the programme said that the MP took off his shoes and paid homage after a brief protest by the organisers.
Babasaheb Ambedkar, principal architect of the Indian Constitution, breathed his last on December 6, 1956. He was born on April 14, 1891 in Mhow, Madhya Pradesh.
