The Netherlands have been forced to make a change in their World Cup squad ahead of their final group game against India as pacer Ryan Klein picked up a back injury. Klein has been ruled out of the Dutch team’s final World Cup group game, while young batter Noah Croes has been promoted into the 15-man squad for the fixture on Sunday.
India will look to make it 9 wins from as many group games and continue their winning streak at home as they gear up for the semifinals, but before that, they will face the Netherlands at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium.
The Dutch have already been ruled out of the race for the semifinals but they still have a chance of making it into the 2025 Champions Trophy. If they can manage to upset India, the Netherlands will have a chance of finishing in the top 8 teams of the group stage, and they will be rewarded with a ticket for the Champions Trophy which will be played in Pakistan in two years’ time.

The top seven teams of the World Cup will qualify for the Champions Trophy, while Pakistan have been given direct entry as hosts, so instead of the top 7, the top 8 teams in the group stage will qualify as Babar Azam and Co. will finish in the top seven teams, as they chase the knockouts.
The Green Army will be in action on November 11, against England and have a mission impossible at hands to pip New Zealand for the last remaining semifinal berth. Pakistan will have to beat England by at least 287 runs, or restrict the defending champions to a total of 50 runs and chase it down in two overs.
Meanwhile, Netherlands’ alteration of bringing in Croes as Klein’s replacement as has been approved by the tournament’s technical committee.
Croes has played just one ODI for his country, with his sole appearance coming in the final of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup Qualifier in July when the 23-year-old managed to score just seven against Sri Lanka.
