Marco Jansen tried rattling KL Rahul with a few words but the India star remained calm to remain unbeaten on 70 when Day 1 came to an early end.

India’s ongoing tour of South Africa saw a heated moment when Marco Jansen and KL Rahul exchanged a few words on Day 1 of the first Test in Centurion.

At one point during the engrossing contest, the South African pacer looked slightly agitated as he hurled some words towards the Indian wicketkeeper batter.

Despite the sledging, Rahul remained calm, smiled and let out a few words of his own.

The Indian star’s reaction has gone viral on social media with fans seemed to be amazed at how calmly Rahul controlled his temperament.

Several pointed out how the experienced batter recused India after the top-order succumbed to the pace of Kagiso Rabada.

The Centurion Test between India and South Africa started with the hosts winning the toss and choosing to bowl first. On a pitch that aided fast bowlers right from the word go, Indian batters faced a ton of challenges in the initial stages of the game.

The match saw Rohit Sharma depart at just five runs while Shubman Gill couldn’t manage more than two. Virat Kohli started well but Rabada got the better of him when he was batting on 38.

With their backs against the wall, Rahul took it upon himself to stabilise the innings for India. He played a rock-solid innings for his side, scoring 70 runs in 105 balls.

He belted an impressive 10 fours and two sixes on the opening day.

His heroics helped India move past the 200-run mark.

Day 1 of the Centurion Test ended with India scoring 208 runs while losing eight wickets. The Indian team is hoping to record their first Test series win in South Africa. The second match in this series will begin on January 3 at the Newlands Stadium in Cape Town.
