US Ambassador Eric Garcetti took a ride in the Delhi Metro for the first time since he assumed the charge of his office earlier this year and hailed the service as among the best in the world.
The US envoy to India travelled on the Magenta Line from RK Puram to Okhla NSIC Metro Station on Magenta Line on Tuesday. He shared a video on X, formerly Twitter, of his first metro ride, a mode of transportation for lakhs of people in the national capital.
The video begins with Garcetti saying “Delhi Metro, Mera Metro” and flashing ONE Delhi common mobility card.

In the post, the US envoy lauded Delhi Metro, saying it is well well-maintained, efficient, and green public transport system that is among the best in the world.
“Wow! Delhi Metro, you make traveling so easy! I had a great time riding the Delhi metro for the first time and meeting fellow passengers. A shout out to the well maintained, efficient, and green public transport system that is among the best in the world!” Garcetti posted.
The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) shared pictures of his metro travel on X.
“His Excellency Mr. Eric M. Garcetti, Ambassador of the United States of America to India, took a ride in Delhi Metro today from RK Puram to Okhla NSIC Metro Station on Magenta Line. He also interacted with passengers during his travel & appreciated clean and efficient Metro system,” the DMRC posted on X.

Some of the Delhi Metro officials accompanied him when he interacted with passengers onboard the train.
Ambassador Garcetti also obliged a few passengers with selfies.
