Maharashtra is the only state to announce a public holiday on January 22 for the consecration ceremony in Ayodhya
Ahead of the ‘Pran Pratishtha’ ceremony of Ram Temple in Ayodhya, several states have announced holidays or half-days for the grand event.
Maharashtra, Rajasthan and Haryana were among the states that have announced a public holiday or declared half day on January 22 so that people celebrate the consecration of Ram temple in Ayodhya.
The central government has already announced a half-day holiday for all its employees on January 22.
Here is a list of states that have made the announcement for January 22:
- Maharashtra: The Maharashtra government is the only state to announce a public holiday on January 22 for the consecration ceremony in Ayodhya. A notification from the state government said it has decided to announce a public holiday on January 22.
- Madhya Pradesh: All government offices and institutions in Madhya Pradesh will remain closed for half a day on Monday to celebrate the consecration of Ram temple in Ayodhya. The state government issued a notification late on Thursday night regarding the closure of offices till 2.30 pm on January 22.
- Delhi: Delhi government offices will remain closed for half day on January 22 on the occasion of the Ram temple consecration in Ayodhya. A Raj Niwas official said Lieutenant Governor V K Saxena has approved a half-day holiday for all Delhi government offices, civic bodies and other undertakings on January 22 on account of the “Pran Pratishtha” ceremony.
- Rajasthan: Rajasthan government has declared a half-day holiday in the state on Monday. Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma made the announcement in the BJP Legislature Party meeting held at the party’s headquarters here on Thursday night.
- Odisha: All the Odisha government offices will remain closed for half a day on January 22. The Odisha government said it was pleased to declare that the state government offices, as well as the revenue and magisterial courts (executive), will remain closed for half a day till 2.30 pm on January 22 (Monday).
- Haryana: The Haryana government also issued a notification, according to which a half-day holiday till 2:30 pm will be observed at all its departments, boards, corporations, schools, colleges, and universities.
- Assam: The Assam government also declared a half-holiday on January 22 on the occasion of the Ram temple consecration ceremony. All state government offices and educational institutions in the state will remain closed till 2.30 PM on January 22 on account of the half-holiday, according to the government statement.
- Puducherry: Puducherry Chief Minister N Rangasamy announced that January 22 would be a public holiday in the Union Territory. He said that all state government offices, educational institutions and undertakings would remain closed on Monday.
- Tripura: Tripura also declared a half-day holiday in the state on January 22 in view of the consecration ceremony, officials said on Friday. The state government issued a notification late on Thursday night regarding the closure of offices till 2.30 pm on January 22.
- Gujarat: All government offices in Gujarat will remain closed for half a day on January 22 to celebrate the consecration of Ram temple in Ayodhya. A notification regarding the closure of offices till 2.30 pm on January 22 was issued by the state government late on Thursday night.
- Chandigarh: “The Ram Lalla Pran Pratishtha at Ayodhya will be celebrated on January 22 across India,” stated the order issued by the Chandigarh UT’s Home Department on Friday. “To enable employees to participate in the celebrations, it has been decided that all government offices, boards, corporations, institutions, including industrial establishments, under the Chandigarh Administration will be closed on January 22,” the order added.
- Other States: The opposition BJP in West Bengal and Kerala has urged the state governments in both the state to declare holiday on Monday for the consecration ceremony.
