Former Indian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni and his fascination with long hair is not an unknown affair for his fans. When Dhoni emerged into the international circuit in 2004, besides the Helicopter Shot, his shoulder-length hair was another aspect that became iconic for the Ranchi-born wicketkeeper-batter.
Dhoni has already bid adieu to international cricket as a legend of the game but his love for long hair looks to have remained the same. Aalim Hakim, a celebrity hairstylist, has recently unveiled a new look of Dhoni on Instagram and the World Cup-winning captain is once again back with long hair.
Evidently overwhelmed to work with MS Dhoni, Hakim penned a long note in the caption which well and truly underlines his admiration for the Chennai Super Kings captain.
“Yessss! It’s our Mahendra Singh Dhoni. It’s an amazing opportunity for any creative person to get associated with Mahendra Singh Dhoni and I’m always grateful that I get this honour to show my craft by styling his hair,” Hakim wrote.

As revealed by Hakim, Dhoni was inspired by a fan-made picture ahead of the 2023 Indian Premier League (IPL). The look immediately got a thumbs-up from Hakim, who has recognised himself as a “huge fan of Mahi bhai’s long hair.” He was the one who requested Dhoni to grow his hair again.
“We both promised each other that would not touch his hair and keep growing it and then we would cut and style it,” Hakim added in the caption.
Despite keeping the length long, Hakim decided to make it something unique. He changed the texture of Dhoni’s hair and dyed it with a matte grey colour to develop a never-seen-before avatar. In some photographs attached to the Instagram post, Dhoni could be seen posing in an all-black ensemble. He rounded off his look with a pair of black sunglasses.
“Here I am sharing some images which I clicked before he went to give a shot for an ad film,” Hakim wrote. Anil Kapoor, Ranveer Singh and many others complimented MS Dhoni’s new look.
MS Dhoni cut short his iconic long hair following the T20 World Cup triumph in 2007. Since then, the 42-year-old has opted for different hairstyles during his illustrious career. After leading the Men in Blue to the ODI World Cup glory in 2011, Dhoni shaved off his head, reportedly due to a religious reason. According to a report by the Times of India, Dhoni made a commitment to become bald before a deity close to his hometown Ranchi ahead of the World Cup. He had offered his hair at the Balaji temple in Tirupati.
