Two people were killed and one injured after a two-storey building collapsed in Delhi’s Welcome on the intervening night of Wednesday and Thursday.

The deceased have been identified as Arshad (30) and Tauhid (20). They were declared dead at GTB Hospital, while the injured, Rehan (22), is critical and is being treated, said North East DCP Joy Tirkey.

Tirkey further said that it was an old construction in Welcome’s Kabir Nagar, and investigation in the case is underway.

“We received a call regarding a building collapse around 2:16 am, and the team reached the spot. Three workers were buried under the debris,” station officer Anoop said. The building owner, Shahid, is yet to be traced, and legal action is pending.

A similar accident took place in Kotla Mubarakpur area of the national capital last month. A 32-year-old man was declared dead and several others injured after a portion of a house collapsed.

The deceased has been identified as Vinay, while 30-year-old Nathu was injured in the incident, police had said. An official of the Delhi Fire Service (DFS) said that they received a call from Gurudwara Road in Koltla Mubarakpur around 5.02 pm. At least seven fire tenders pressed into service, he added.
