The Cricket Discipline Commission decided to revise the lifetime ban on the former Kiwi opener, Lou Vincent who was prohibited from participating in cricket in any capacity by the ECB.

Former New Zealand international cricketer, Lou Vincent was banned from participating in cricket in any capacity after he received 11 lifetime bans which prohibited him from participating in cricket in any capacity by the England Cricket Board.

In a recent development, the Cricket Discipline Commission(CDC) released a statement which said that the CDC has decided to revise the life ban on the Kiwi opener which was imposed in June 2014. Lou Vincent had received 11 lifetime bans which excluded his participation from any capacity of the sport and the sanctions were also accepted by the player for his involvement in several match-fixing episodes where he was involved.

The statement also revealed that the decision was taken after accounting for Vincent’s conduct after the imposition of the sanctions which included:

  • full and frank admissions and the fullest disclosures;
  • immediate and total cooperation with cricket and civil authorities in various parts of the world; and
  • participation in anti-corruption education programmes for New Zealand Cricket and the ECB.

The CDC decided after also receiving supporting evidence from the International Cricket Council (ICC), New Zealand Cricket (NZC), the England and Wales Cricket Board(ECB) and others.

Lou Vincent was part of the New Zealand setup where he made his debut in the longest format in 2001-02 when he went up against Australia. He eventually also represented the side in the ODI format as well and went on to have a decent run for the Blackcaps.

The opener has played in a total of 125 matches for New Zealand across the Test and ODI formats where he has scored a combined total of 3745 runs. He was also part of the New Zealand side that took part in the 2007 ODI World Cup in the West Indies but was forced to pull out after an injury he sustained during a practice session where he fractured his wrist.
