Rohit Sharma-led Indian team continued their winning run at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Sunday, November 5 as Virat Kohli marked his 35th birthday with his 49th ODI century. Kohli’s special knock helped India record a massive total of 326/5 but South Africa could only muster up 83 runs in reply.
Ravindra Jadeja’s fifer and Mohammed Shami’s pace was too hot to handle for the Proteas as India emerged triumphant by 243 runs to seal their top spot in the ODI World Cup points table.
While Prime Minister Narendra Modi hailed India’s teamwork in their win over South Africa, former cricketers and dignitaries flooded social media with congratulatory posts after the Men in Blue crushed the Proteas.
