All New Ather 450S HR To Have Bigger Battery Pack, More Details Inside
With a bigger 3.7 kWh battery pack, the Ather 450S HR will most likely be positioned above the current 450S model.

This August, Indian two-wheeler electric manufacturer – Ather revamped its lineup by introducing the new and more economical 450S.

Recently, a new homologation document for the upcoming Ather scooter surfaced online. According to Autocar India, the homologation papers now indicate that this scooter is set to gain a new sibling. Ather is preparing to launch the 450S HR, where ‘HR’ most likely stands for ‘high range’, as per the document.

The main concept behind the redesign of the Ather electric scooter lineup was to make the scooter more affordable following the significant reduction in the FAME 2 subsidy earlier this year.

What is FAME 2 subsidy?

The Central Government’s FAME 2 subsidy allows people to purchase electric vehicles at a lower cost. This encourages customers to choose electric automobiles over fuel-powered vehicles.

450S HR Electric Scooter: Battery, Features And Other Details

According to the homologation paper, this new electric scooter will have a 3.76kWh battery pack. Because of the bigger battery, the Ather 450S HR has a certified range of 156km, which is 10km longer than the 450X. In terms of power, it retains a peak output of 5.4kW, which is consistent with the 450S and somewhat less than the 6.4kW motor found in the 450X. In comparison, the current 450S has a 2.9kWh battery capacity.

The high range or HR model has the same wheelbase, width, and height as its siblings, but it is somewhat shorter overall. The Ather 450S HR has a top speed of 80kmph, which is 10kmph slower than the 450S and 450X. The new scooter has four separate riding modes: Eco, SmartEco, Ride, and Sport, although it lacks the Warp option.

With the bigger battery on the 450S HR, it’s realistic to assume a real-world range of roughly 130km, which will appeal to many riders. And it might result in a significant price increase over the current 450S’ Rs 1,29,999 (ex-showroom, including FAME 2 incentives). In addition, the official launch will most likely take place later this month or in early October 2023.

The Ola S1 Air, TVS iQube, and Bajaj Chetak are among the rivals for the Ather 450S.
