While Victoria’s Secret model Irina Shyak is quite popular for stealing the shows at high fashion runways, she has also become well-known for her high-profile dating history. Between 2010-2015 the supermodel dated Football powerhouse Cristiano Ronaldo. But did you know she lost a whopping 11 million followers on Instagram after breaking up with the sportsman? It was in 2010 when Ronaldo met Irina while shooting a campaign for Armani. They were instantly attracted to each other and it didn’t take long for their affection to blossom into love.
The ex-couple made their relationship public by sharing romantic photos on social media. If that wasn’t enough, they also professionally collaborated to be the cover stars for Vogue Spain. The steamy photoshoot featured Irina in a steamy white gown while Ronaldo bared his chiselled physique behind her. After dating for almost five years, the duo called it quits for each other in 2015. Rumours were rife that either the Football player cheated on the model or the latter had a dispute with Ronaldo’s family after she was a no-show at his mother’s 60th birthday party. Theories fuelled online but the couple refrained from speaking about the reason behind their breakup.
The model’s representative confirmed to Page Six that Irina Shayk ended her relationship with Ronaldo but also added that any negative rumour about the model circulating online is completely false. Just two days after Irina’s announcement, Ronaldo officially confirmed the breakup in a written statement. “After dating for five years, my relationship with Irina Shayk has ended. We believed it would be best for both of us to take this step now. I wish Irina the greatest happiness,” read the statement.
Following the separation, Irina reportedly asked people to unfollow her if they only knew her as Cristiano Ronaldo’s ex-girlfriend and the fans of the Footballer did just that. It is reported that within a day she lost about 11 million followers on Instagram which apparently accounted for 75% of her online fandom.
After Cristiano Ronaldo, Irina Shayk found herself in another high-profile relationship with Hollywood heartthrob Bradley Cooper in 2015. Two years into dating the duo welcomed their daughter Lea de Seine Shayk Cooper, born in March 2017. But the relationship was short-lived as the duo began to drift apart in 2018. The official announcement of their separation came in 2019. Although they are not together, the two remain on good terms and co-parent their daughter.
Ronaldo has since moved on with model Georgina Rodriguez.
