Los Angeles: 'High School Musical' star Zac Efron has been added to the cast ensemble of 'Baywatch' movie, joining Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the feature film will revolve around on a by-the-book and very serious lifeguard (Johnson) who is forced to team up with a young rule-flouting hothead (Efron) in order to save their beach from environmental destruction at the hands of an oil tycoon.
"Welcoming my dude @ZacEfron to #BAYWATCH. Our movie will be big, fun and RATED R.. Like me when I drink," Johnson tweeted.
The film is based on a classic TV series of the same name. The original beach lifeguard series starred David Hasselhoff and Pamela Anderson. It's unclear if any of them will appear in the big-screen version. Efron, 27, was last seen in R-rated comedy 'Neighbors' and is expected to return for the sequel. He will next star in 'We Are Your Friends', 'Dirty Grandpa', and 'Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates'.
