Predestination, directed by Michael Spierig and Peter Spierig, is one of the remarkable films of 2015. It was lauded by viewers for its excellent storytelling, intriguing climax, and acting performances. A sci-fi thriller-based film, Predestination is currently streaming on Amazon Prime. It has an ensemble star cast of many talented actors like Ethan Hawke, Sarah Snook, Noah Taylor, and Madeleine West. Predestination is based on the short story titled All You Zombies by Robert A Heinlein. One of the highlights of this film is the use of some very peculiar story-telling devices by the characters to accomplish their goals. For example, The Barkeep (Ethan Hawke) speaks into a tape recorder. The question arises for whom The Barkeep is recording. Many other twists and turns maintain the interest of the audience in Predestination. It won honours including the Australian Cinematographers Society, Film Critics Circle of Australia Award, and Australian Screen Sound Guild (nominee).
Talking about this film in an interview with What’s Up Hollywood, Ethan Hawke said that he had to read the script repeatedly because he wasn’t sure about the role that the makers were offering him. Despite the initial set of apprehensions, he knew that he wanted to be involved with it because it was just so smart. According to Ethan Hawke, It reminded him a little bit about the movie Brazil.
Ethan Hawke said that the script reading is a tedious process but the language and the ideas were interesting in Predestination. On being asked where he would like to go for time travel, the 53-year-old actor said that he would go to the time when his kids are old. In Predestination, Ethan Hawke plays a time-travelling government agent who recruits his younger self to pursue a particularly elusive criminal.
Ethan Hawke will next act in the films The Black Phone 2, Batso, Revolver and Tonight at Noon. He last acted in the film Leave the World Behind, which is now streaming on Netflix. Sam Esmail has directed this film and co-wrote it with Rumaan Alam. Leave the World Behind also got great reviews from the audience.
