Ace filmmaker Christopher Nolan will collaborate with Tom Holland on his next project, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The Academy Award-winning director has locked the script for the film, which also stars stars Matt Damon and will be distributed by Universal Pictures. While little is known about the plot, sources suggest the setting isn’t present day.
While the Spider-Man: Homecoming star joins hands with Nolan for the first time, Damon has previously worked with the British-American director on Oppenheimer and Interstellar. The yet-to-be-titled film is scheduled to hit theatres on July 17, 2026, according to the report.
Speaking about the potential plot, a source close to the production said, “The setting is not present day (although it’s unclear whether it’s set in the past or the future),” as quoted by The Hollywood Reporter. The insider further added, “The actor (Tom) will spend next year juggling this project as well as Spider-Man 4, with a likely stop for Avengers: Doomsday. Spider-Man 4 was delayed enough that Holland’s co-star Zendaya will now be shooting Dune 3 in early 2026 rather than next year.”
According to a report from Gizmodo, a trusted source revealed that Christopher Nolan’s next film might be a vampire story set in the 1920s. While this is still just speculation, the idea of Nolan creating a horror thriller is intriguing.
Christopher Nolan had opened up about how he chose his stories previously during a conversation with Variety. Without getting into the details, Nolan said, “Ideas come from everywhere. I’ve done a remake, I’ve made adaptations from comic books and novels and I’ve written original screenplays. I’m open to anything. But as a writer and director, whatever I do, I have to feel like I own it completely. I have to make it original to me: The initial seed of an idea may come from elsewhere, but it has to go through my fingers on a keyboard and come out through my eyes alone.”
Nolan’s last project, Oppenheimer with Universal proved to be a major success critically and at the box office. As per reports, the movie based on the life of the Father of the Atomic Bomb, minted $975 million at the global box office. It also earned Christopher Nolan his first Academy Award as a director.
